Eni Rewind: water management Eni Rewind carries out groundwater remediation interventions through an integrated system consisting of hydraulic barriers and treatment plants. For sustainable management of water resources, the company applies the most innovative technologies aimed at promoting their recovery, reuse and valorisation.

E-hyrec® technology E-hyrec® is an automated device that is positioned inside pumping wells for the selective removal of hydrocarbons from groundwater. Compared to traditional systems, it ensures a faster, more effective and efficient remediation of the aquifer, making an important contribution to the protection and preservation of water resources.

Eni Rewind's environmental interventions in remediation sites Giving new life to a territory means generating new opportunities in environmental, social and economic terms. To do this, it is essential that the future reuse of the areas for new development initiatives is planned during the early stages of the remediation process, in agreement with local institutions and stakeholders. An approach that is part of our integrated operating model with which we oversee every stage of the process, from preliminary characterisation investigations to final certification.

The Assemini photovoltaic plant Our Assemini site is one of the first selected by Eni as part of its commitment to the development of energy from renewable sources. The installation of the photovoltaic plant, with a total capacity of 23 MW, was completed in 2018.

The project for the redevelopment of the Ponticelle area in Ravenna The project for the redevelopment of Ponticelle, a decommissioned industrial area outside the petrochemical hub in Ravenna, is a concrete example of how remediation can provide added value to the territories and their communities.

Our interventions for groundwater remediation In the design of groundwater remediation interventions, we use 3D numerical flow models that allow us to interpret, represent and predict the underground water trend in its complexity with the aim of regulating, in real time, the quantity of water withdrawn from the subsoil. In this way, the pumping is adapted to seasonal fluctuations or other external phenomena such as prolonged drought, salt intrusion and flooding rain.

A zero km sustainable remediation Progetto Nuraghe is the name of an environmental intervention that Eni Rewind has undertaken in Porto Torres for the treatment and removal of approximately 800,000 m3 of earthed and contaminated materials. The project involved the realisation of a multifunctional platform that can treat up to approximately 1,000 m3 of soil per day with the application of the most sustainable technologies. Decontamination therefore takes place almost entirely on site and for the soils that complies with the remediation objectives, re-filling is planned in the excavations from which it derives.
