At Gela innovative techniques to decommission Island 6
The decommissioning project of the “Fertilisers Warehouses” at Island 6 within the Gela site is an advanced model for the management and dismantling of non-conventional concrete structures.
The operation is notable for its use of internationally recognised cutting-edge techniques based on controlled dismantling and the use of mobile tensile structures.
This approach enables to overcome the technical complexities typical of decommissioned large-sized industrial structures which come from historic production facilities. The progressive demolition of the structures will make the areas on Island 6 available.
